The Good Received Is the Good Carried Forward
For over 200 years, First Presbyterian Church has been an amazing part of God’s transforming work in the world. As a congregation with such a rich history, we are reminded daily that we drink from wells we did not dig and feast from vineyards we did not plant—but someone did.
Extending and Expanding Support for Generations
Those who have gone before us in the life of this congregation offered their time, talents, and treasures to join God’s transforming work in the world. Today, we are that “someone” in this unfolding of God’s history. As those who came before us, we are called to embody the notion that we have been blessed beyond measure so that we can be a blessing to future generations.
One of the ways our congregation is faithful is through the First Presbyterian Church Foundation. The Foundation seeks to expand the church’s missional giving each year and support the church’s capital needs. Through a grant process, overseen by our twelve-member board of church members, each year the Foundation supports such things as: capital improvements to the church, support Presbyterian schools of higher education, a variety of non-profits that align with the Church’s mission, and much more.
In the past year, here were some of the good works we did through the Church’s Foundation:
Meals on Wheels
$10,000 for Thanksgiving and Christmas meals
Filling in the Gaps (FIGS)
$10,000 for blood pressure monitors and training
Dan and Elizabeth Turk (Church of Jesus Christ in Madagascar)
$16,100 for training in growing fruit trees
Alliance Medical Ministry
$18,350 for updated computers and software
The Carying Place
$25,000 for development of transitional housing units
Salvation Army
$16,069 for kitchen equipment, high chairs, and mattresses in transitional housing
Habitat for Humanity of Wake County
$27,311 for transition to a new financial software for housing applications
Massanetta Retreat Center
$25,000 for sponsorship of a room in the new facility
Partnership & Stewardship
All giving to the Foundation is outside of our church members’ annual tithes and support for the church.
