News from the Oral History Committee

FPC’s Oral History Project started in 2010 and is under the domain of our Library. This committee is alive and well today and we would like for others in the church to know about some this body’s accomplishments.

To date those having served on this committee have:

Completed over 35 interviews of church members who have been active in the many activities of the church

Photographed the memorial books and placed these in the library

Established Standard Operating Procedures for interviews

Contacted many of the Church School Classes about recording their class history

The committee recently interviewed Susan Johnson and Margaret Peacock concerning the many WOC projects and activities which have added so much to the life of this church. Liz Redford is our new Archives Director who is busy organizing this valuable history of FPC. The committee plans to do a story soon on our work with Habitat for Humanity through the years and we will also be spotlighting adult Church School Classes.

The Oral History Committee welcomes help from church members who have filming and interviewing expertise. The committee also needs help choosing the best equipment for filming and taping interviews. We are hoping to update our methods of recording the interviews and making them available on the FPC website. Please contact any of the members of the committee if you think you could be of help. (Anne Carter, Edna Hensey, Brock Nicholson, Allen Barwick, Everett Nichols, and Bradley Kraemer)

We are indebted to Everett Nichols and Edna Hensey and many other committee members through the years who have been so generous with their time and talents and we salute them for their dedication to FPC’s history of service in all facets of the life of the church.
