Weekly Mission Spotlight: Pride for Parents

Partnering with The Encouraging Place, our annual Pride for Parents Christmas Store took place at FPC on December 4, 5, 11, and 12.

Pride for Parents is an annual toy and gift sale designed to benefit hard working families at Christmas. Their mission is to provide parents the opportunity to purchase low-cost, new toys for their families.

Reggie Edwards, Executive Director of The Encouraging Place

Thanks to FPC PW, we were able to collect gift cards and financial donations to assist with the purchase of toys, bikes, scooters, helmets, games and clothes for the store. Over the course of 4 days the store provided gifts and clothes to 160 families, utilizing social distancing and standard COVID precautions.

Pride for Parents Wake is modeled after a program that first launched in Atlanta and seeks to instill dignity rather than dependency. Parents are blessed with the ability to choose presents for their children. The children are blessed with Christmas gifts that actually come from their parents.

Many people have been financially impacted during the pandemic. The working poor of Wake County have struggled to pay their rent and utilities and put food on the table. Thanks to Pride for Parents, these families were able to provide a Christmas for their kids.

Thank you for your ongoing support of this wonderful ministry.
