Weekly Mission Focus: Saint Saviour’s Center

Founded in 2003, Saint Saviour’s Center is a community outreach organization that addresses unmet needs for low-income residents of Wake County.

They serve families and retirees who have an income, yet struggle to make ends meet. Each year, the Center receives more than 17,000 visits from people seeking assistance at The Diaper Train and Healthy Living for Seniors. Did you know that diapers can cost a family $100 a month per child, that the government food stamp program doesn’t cover diapers, or that one in three parents has had to choose between buying diapers or food?

The Diaper Train is the first and only diaper bank in Wake County, distributing 65,000 diapers a month, 780,000 diapers a year and more than 4 million diapers since 2011. Families referred by partnering agencies may come to the center to receive diapers and baby wipes once a month until their child is three years old.

Healthy Living for Seniors currently serves residents of Glenwood Towers and Carriage House communities in Raleigh and offers health and nutrition classes, fun activities and spiritual support. Older adults need to stay physically, mentally and spiritually active in order to remain independent and maintain a high quality of life. Healthy Living for
Seniors is a whole-person program for seniors in public housing who do not have access to the resources they need.

FPC’s Mission Budget supports Saint Saviour’s Center and our diaper drives support The Diaper Train.
