Meet Our Outreach Volunteers: Carol Anne Moehring

Meet the Outreach Volunteers

I am very blessed to have many dedicated members of the Mission Committee and an awesome group of Outreach volunteers. These FPC members devote countless hours of their time and assist me with mission budget allocation, grant reviews, as well as serving as coordinators for various subcommittees and/or as liaisons with mission partners. The Mission Committee is comprised of elders, deacons, PW representatives and at-large church members. Outreach volunteers assist with Friendship Fund operations, client interviews, and FPC Shares. I couldn’t do my job effectively without their help and I want you to have the opportunity to get to know them better.

Outreach Volunteer:

Carol Anne Moehring
Current Elder, Former FPC Director of Community Outreach

Joined FPC: February 26, 1995

Family: Married to Dick Moehring for almost 35 years. We have spent the last 3 1/2 years traveling the US in our RV and have visited all of the 48 contiguous states. Dick is also retired and is very supportive of all my outreach efforts. Our children are Jenna (an FPC member) and her husband Damon, and Alex and his fiancé, MacKenzie. Jenna and Damon are CPAs and live in Raleigh, and we see them weekly. Alex and MacKenzie live in Boston, and are getting married this September.

Career: I am a retired CPA, and retired Director of Outreach at FPC, where I served from 2005-2018.

Kathy: Why do you feel missions are important to FPC?

Carol Anne: The emphasis on Mission drew us to FPC. I am guided by Luke12:45 – “From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.” Enjoying the many privileges I have received, I believe it is my obligation and joy to give to others. FPC embodies this well. I feel it is at the heart of living out my Christian Faith.

Kathy: What mission are you most closely affiliated with and why?

Carol Anne: The Friendship Fund. Having volunteered and administered this Fund for many years, it represents the heart of my FPC community. We are able to help many of our struggling neighbors pay their bills and also provide a listening ear.

Kathy: What was your most memorable trip or vacation?

Carol Anne: We have had many wonderful trips. We loved our time in Israel and our time traveling with our children and parents.

Kathy: What is an item on your bucket list?

Carol Anne: Travel to South Africa and meet my son-in-law’s family.

Kathy: What is something positive that you’ve experienced during the pandemic that you may incorporate into your life going forward?

Carol Anne: Slowing down and walking regularly.

Kathy: Would you rather travel back in time to meet your ancestors or to the future to meet your descendants?

Carol Anne: I have many questions for my ancestors regarding the struggles they faced and the joys they experienced. But what a delight it would be to talk to our descendants!

Kathy: What sport would you most want to compete in if you were in the Summer Olympics?

Carol Anne: Either Synchronized Swimming or Rhythmic gymnastics. But, I am not graceful.
