Haiti Outreach Ministries: Sponsorship Opportunity

Haiti Outreach Ministries was started in the late 1980’s as a way to support a growing Haitian ministry called Mission Communautaire de l’Eglise Chretienne des Cites, or MICECC for short. In response to an invitation to minister to one of the poorest communities in Port-au-Prince, Cite Soleil, Leon Dorleans began holding a small Sunday worship service. A worship service located not in a church, but under blue tarps on a dirt road in the neighborhood. As the church ministry grew and flourished, his wife, Jackie, starting teaching children because both she and Leon realized the importance of education, not only in improving the lives of the students, but of their families and ultimately the country as a whole. Fast forward 30+ years and you’ll find a vibrant partnership continuing between HOM and MICECC on three church campuses in Port-au-Prince, each with a church, a primary school, either a separate medical clinic building or a place to provide medical care and a clean drinking water program. An additional site offers a secondary school for those students who have successfully completed the 6th grade and would like to continue through grade 13. Combined, these three campuses and the secondary school provide:

  • worship services for over 3,200 people each Sunday
  • a Christian education, along with scholastic studies, to over 1,500 students each year
  • health care to over 30,000 Haitians each year

FPC and its members have been a devoted partner of HOM and MICECC for many years, by providing funds and supplies, by sending medical mission teams, by volunteering in HOM leadership positions, and by sponsoring students.
