FPC Staff Show and Tell: Kathryn Johnson

STAFF MEMBER SINCE:

July 2018

MAIN JOB DUTIES:

As one of our newest staff members, Kathryn hit the ground running as Director of Community Outreach, managing the Friendship Fund, working with landlords and utility companies and advocating for clients. Kathy also stays busy managing  FPC Shares food donations, working with our mission partners and serving as staff liaison to the Mission Committee. This Summer, she will travel to Bolivia and Haiti with the FPC mission teams. The latest item on her agenda is the Reentry Support Circle, a faith based support system in conjunction with Pullen Memorial Baptist Church and IPMW, which helps women leaving the prison system to transition to a normal life and get the help they need—from writing a resume to finding an apartment. Kathryn plays a crucial role in our outstanding mission work, from the heart of the city to the ends of the earth, and genuinely loves being a part of such an active church family.  Did you know she is a cradle member of FPC?

FAVORITE PART OF JOB:

Kathryn enjoys working with clients on a daily basis. She feels the most motivated helping people and working with our neighbors in need.

MESSAGE TO MEMBERS:

This year marks the 60th anniversary of the Friendship Fund. Without this program, our downtown neighbors would suffer. First Presbyterian Church is the longest standing emergency assistance provider in downtown Raleigh, helping 600+ families annually and donating approximately $120,000 in 2018 to pay past due utility bills and rent. Your support is invaluable and very much appreciated.  This is a huge success and we couldn’t make such an impact without your continued dedication.

Thank you!
