Capital Maintenance Projects

Two projects were recently completed utilizing funds from the Capital Maintenance Reserve Fund and the Annual General Fund Budget.

The Stock Building north end roof and 8 HVAC units were replaced in May for $84,333. The Lighting Replacement Project in Memorial Hall was completed last week. 36 new LED recessed fixtures and 64 LED flood lights lowers the electricity consumption ~90% from 20,400 to 2,088 watts. The total labor and material cost was less than $5,000 due to a Duke Energy rebate and a Schwab Charitable Grant from the lighting company. The Reserve Fund is the successor to many years of capital campaigns and was established early last year to address the Capital Expense Study Forecast of over $500,000 over the next 6-10 years.  The study was prepared by FPC staff and trusted contractors and approved by the Property and Insurance Committee.  The staff and P&I Committee are just starting the preliminary phase for another major project – renovation of the 30+ year old restrooms in Memorial Hall.  Your continued gifts to this fund will help meet FPC’s facilities needs as well as postpone the need for future capital campaigns.
